Some people head to the beach for spring break, but 20 high-achieving 91福利导航 High School students in grades 10-12 spent their recent vacation visiting four historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
Thanks to our community partners at the 91福利导航 Chapter of the Black Child Development Institute and the Capital Region YMCA, the students went on an all-expenses-paid trip to North Carolina Central University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Virginia State University and Morgan State University.
Before the Falcons left, U91福利导航 students from the 91福利导航 State University Black Alliance spoke them and their families about the ins and outs of college life and how to be successful students. On the trip, 91福利导航 High students toured each campus and met with college students, admissions counselors and financial aid counselors there.
Coordinating the visit on the 91福利导航 High end were College and Career Coordinator Joe Fesel and Leadership Academy Assistant Principal Nicole Newman.
The mission of the City School District of 91福利导航 is to educate and prepare all students for college and career, citizenship and life, in partnership with our diverse community. The district serves approximately 9,400 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at 91福利导航 High School.
