Integrative lesson turns students into teachers

It’s only appropriate that our young scientists and mathematicians are proving Albert Einstein’s famous quote.

This week Susan Paultre’s students created model cities using their knowledge of area, perimeter and volume.

The fifth graders were then with support from district technology coach Sue McCoy, that required a script, story board, props and materials.

After rehearsing, the students became the teachers and recorded their unique and individual volume lesson using Screencastify.

The activity allows students to demonstrate their knowledge and also enhances communication skills and deepens their comprehension of volumetric principles by teaching others.
