The award is presented by Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants to a student athlete or team member who helps keep the team together and carries values like commitment, character, teamwork and dedication. The winner of the award will receive a $10,000 equipment grant for their school's program.
Daaron plays wide receiver and defensive back and is a captain on the 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High football team. Coach Michael Ware nominated Daaron for this award because he is an excellent leader, working hard to ensure his teammates are focused during practice and understand the gameplans. In addition to his dedication on the football field, Daaron also performs strongly in his classes, maintaining a 3.5 GPA. He has persevered through two injuries and also is known for his accomplishments in outdoor track, advancing to compete at the New Balance National Outdoor Championships this past season! Not only is Daaron a talented athlete, but he also is a caring person who helps fellow classmates with calculus assignments and participates in outreach projects facilitated by his church to provide food to those in need.
