News of the week

  • Spring break is almost here – Friday (tomorrow) will be a professional development day for employees. There will be no school for students. Spring recess is Monday, April 10-Friday, April 14. All district schools are closed.
  • Food pantry closed during spring recess – 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High's food pantry will be closed during break and will reopen Tuesday, April 18.
  • Graduation cap and gown orders due after break – Attention seniors: Cap and gown orders are are due April 17, the first day back from break. If you haven’t already ordered your cap and gown, please do it today to assure it arrives on time for graduation! Cost is $40. You can find the order form and more info at albanyschools.org/2023.
  • All-City Strings Concert – Intermediate and Advanced Orchestra students joined middle and elementary students Tuesday to perform in the All-City Strings Concert, and they sounded great. .
  • Construction students build for community  – Thanks to Art Erbe's Construction Technology students, Myers Middle School has two new beautiful picnic tables. . 
  • City summer jobs deadline – The payroll packet and additional paperwork are due in-person by April 14 for applications to the City of 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ Summer Youth Employment Program. Learn more.
  • College Zone opportunity May 20 – Students and their parents and guardians  can take part in a free pre-college program called "Entering the College Zone" on Saturday, May 20 from 9-3 p.m. at Hudson Valley Community College. Students can register through Friday, May 5. Learn more.
  • Summer arts scholarships – The state Office of Cultural Education is offering scholarship opportunities for students to attend regional arts programs this summer. . May 1 is the deadline to apply.

Important reminders

  • 'Short Play Festival' submissions sought – The Theater Ensemble is asking playwright hopefuls to submit their original short works by June 2. The festival is slated for fall 2023. Learn more.
  • Free spa services for 55+ – Cosmetology students are offering free salon services to any city residents aged 55 and up on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May. An appointment is required. Learn more.
