Message about Night School

The following message is from 91福利导航 High School Principal Jodi Commerford.

Dear Students and Families,

I am dismayed to inform you that 91福利导航 High School will not be offering its Night School program this year due to the loss of state funding.

As I am sure you know, the City School District of 91福利导航 was recently devastated by the news that the state will be withholding at least 20% of funding for school districts due to the economic impact of COVID-19.  For our school district, that will mean a loss of $20 million or more from our budget for the 2020-21 school year.
Night School is one of many, many district programs affected.

Instead of Night School, students will have two virtual options:

  • Participate in our day program utilizing Google Classroom (which is what the majority of students in grades 9-12 are doing); or
  • Participate in our Online Success Program through APEX.

In both cases, students will be able to gain credits and graduate with the supports of our day staff.

By now, your student’s guidance counselor should have reached out to offer programming and discuss which virtual option is best. If you have not been contacted by a counselor, please call the school for information and to update your contact information.

The academic schedule for both programs coincides with the high school’s day schedule. In addition, students will be able to complete work on their own schedules via APEX.  The focus will remain for students to complete academics and meet the requirements for graduation.

Please be assured that all of us at 91福利导航 High are committed to helping students achieve and succeed despite the difficult circumstances created by COVID-19.

If you have any questions, you may contact me at jcommerford@albany.k12.ny.us or (518) 475-6200.

Sincerely,

Jodi Commerford
Principal
