The following message is from Principal Lesley Buff:
Dear Families:
New Scotland Elementary School is excited for our 2024 Talent Show, which will be held at William S. Hackett Middle School this Friday at 6 p.m. I’m writing to let you know about enhanced security measures in place at Hackett that we will follow for our event Friday, and to urge you to arrive at least 15 minutes earlier than usual to accommodate these new safety procedures.
All visitors to after-school and evening events at Hackett are required to check in through the district’s visitor management system and proceed through security before continuing to the auditorium. Adult visitors are required to provide acceptable ID to be scanned (you can visit our website for a list of acceptable ID options). This is the same system that operates for adult visitors during the school day at all of our schools.
For Friday night's event at Hackett, student visitors who are in middle school and high school should be prepared to show their school ID.
For elementary-age visitors, it would be helpful if parents and guardians of younger children know their child’s student ID number. At minimum, you will be asked for any child’s name and date of birth, which will be entered into Hackett’s system.
Hackett and 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High School both are piloting these enhanced security procedures at after-school and evening events for the rest of the school year. We will use the information and your feedback to determine our next steps with this system as we look ahead to the 2024-25 school year.
Thank you for your assistance and support as we work together to enhance our safety procedures. I look forward to seeing you on Friday and celebrating the amazing talents of the New Scotland Elementary community.
