If you have any questions about important African-Americans throughout history, ask a New Scotland Elementary School second-grader!
On Friday, the school was transformed into a Black History Living Museum. Each second-grader researched and wrote about – then dressed as and played the part of – a Black person who made important contributions in their field. It was a great lesson for the students, their classmates and family and friends to learn about political leaders, scientists, musicians, civil rights activists, athletes and more who shaped our nation and world.
Family and friends dropped a coin in a cup to hear each student come alive and recite information about the African-American they were portraying. Coins collected will be donated to charity.
