Preparing for Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences are next week on Thursday, Oct. 26 (4:30-7:30 p.m.) and Friday, Oct. 27 (noon-2:45 p.m.). These conferences are a great opportunity to learn about your child’s academic strengths, areas of growth and needs. You will also learn about how your child is contributing to their classroom community. The meetings are quick – they last about 10 minutes – and we want to make sure that you get the most out of your conference day. Therefore, here are some helpful hints.
- Please make sure you are on time for your conference so that you have the full amount of time for the conference.
- Look over your child’s schoolwork that has come home. Familiarizing yourself with some of their work will allow you to make connections as the teacher is sharing information about your child.
- Speak with your child before the conference. Hear from them how they think they are doing. This will allow you to share some of their feelings during the conference.
- Do you have specific questions? If you do, write them down and put them in order of what you feel is most important. With only a short amount of time, this will help guide the conversation and make sure the important questions are covered.
- A successful parent/teacher relationship ensures your child’s success. If you disagree with something, please share your thoughts, but remember to stay calm. Remember that children present themselves differently in different settings. We want to work as a team to support your child.
Be a part of our school community
Joining the PTA is a great way to stay connected with the school. Meetings are held in person once a month, and you can join virtually as well.
The PTA has some fun activities planned for the school year. The next big event is the Harvest Fest on Nov. 17. Mark your calendars and get ready for some festive fall fun!
