Congratulations Tonisha Davis!
The William S. Hackett Middle School sixth-grader received third place for her equine-themed acrylic painting Canyon Horse in the Saratoga National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s annual adjudicated student art exhibition entitled Win, Place, Show.
Davis’ art was on display at the Von Stade Gallery along with more than 30 other submissions from students in grades 3-7 in our area.
According to guiding teacher Elizabeth Boyle, Davis’ Canyon Horse was inspired by the Saratoga racetrack for the equine theme, the Grand Canyon for bold scenery and depth inspired by the works of artists Kara Walker and Mark Rothko.
Grades 8-12 will have the same contest criteria but with different exhibition deadlines and dates. Please contact Museum Educator Matt Reichel at mreichel@racingmuseum.net for more information.
