The following message is from William S. Hackett Middle School Principal Michael Paolino. You also can download this letter.
Dear Families:
I am writing to update you on developments that may affect traffic on Delaware Avenue near William S. Hackett Middle School due to the City of 91福利导航’s Beaver Creek Clean River Project construction in Lincoln Park.
Beginning Monday, May 10, the city will close the road in front of Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST) to through traffic. The TOAST access road (across Delaware Avenue from Leonard Place) will become a two-way loop in and out from Delaware. This temporary traffic pattern will be in place throughout the Beaver Creek project, which is scheduled for completion in December 2022.
When the city closes the TOAST access road on May 10, you will see flaggers in that intersection during the morning and afternoon dropoff and pickup times. Please use caution when driving near that intersection and follow all directions given by the city’s traffic-control personnel.
I also would like to make you aware that TOAST will be using the Lincoln Park access road near the tennis courts for student dropoff and pickup due to the traffic changes in the front of TOAST. Beginning May 10, the Lincoln Park access road will become a one-way street from Delaware to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to accommodate TOAST’s student safety needs.
Please also be aware that these changes in traffic patterns could cause increased congestion on Delaware in front of our school during our busy times in the morning and afternoon.
The safety of everyone in the TOAST and Hackett communities is our top priority. We know these temporary changes will be an inconvenience for both of our schools, and for motorists and pedestrians alike.
The City School District of 91福利导航 has been working closely with the city to develop plans that prioritize safety for everyone in our school communities, especially our students.
