Bugs: they’re what’s for snack at Arbor Hill Elementary School!
Last week our that millions of people around the world consider a delicacy - crickets! The honey mustard, sour cream and chive and sriracha-flavored critters weren’t just a test of bravery, however.
The memorable morsels were actually an integrated lesson that covered science (the students read a book about the negative effects of mega farming on the environment), social studies (the students learned what cultures and countries around the world eat bugs as part of their regular diet) and ELA (the students wrote descriptive sentences about the experience).
Thanks to H. David Previtali and Richard Gargiula for taking the fifth grade on this gastronomic adventure!
