On Wednesday, Superintendent (and percussionist!) Joseph Hochreiter donated a drum set to the 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ Fund for Education’s Instrument Donation Program for City School District of 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ students.
He handed off the drums to AFE Executive Director Mari Shopsis outside the district’s Academy Park offices.
The Instrument Donation Program collects band and orchestra instruments, instrument accessories like drumsticks and shoulder rests, and instrument cases. It refurbishes and restores the items and puts them back in the hands of our students.
Since 2014, the program has put over 500 instruments in the hands of district kids. In addition to AFE, the project is supported by Aimee Allaud, 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ Friends of Music, the 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ Musicians’ Association and John Keal Music.
