Summer in the recording studio

Student screws a microphone into a stand

Students in Kyle Albano’s summer Digital Audio Workstation class at 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High School spent Tuesday and Wednesday building a recording studio set for a chamber orchestra – everything from arranging seating for musicians to placing microphones to programming the sound.

Albano’s class is one of several summer enrichment courses 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High students can take for credit (and fun!). The six-week classes meet four times a week, four hours a day. A student who successfully completes a summer enrichment class earns the same credit as a student who takes the same class for a full year.

The Digital Audio Workstation students are learning the mechanics of building a recording studio set for a range of musical performances from rock to classical to jazz to a live session to a DJ set, along with gaining the technical savvy of sophisticated sound recording.
