'Do the Right Thing' students: November 2020

Do the Right Thing winner recognized by 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ Police Department.

School Resource Officers Chris English and Nicole Reddix made house calls on Wednesday – and what our was a welcome post-holiday surprise!

The 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ Police Department, in partnership with the City of 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ and the district, recognized the second-round of “Do the Right Thing” winners. The initiative acknowledges middle and high school students’ accomplishments, positive behavior and good deeds. Worthy students are nominated by school staff, parents, police officers and community members.

“In these challenging times, it is more important than ever to support young people who make smart choices and are role models in our community. Many, many of our students ‘do the right thing’ every day, and we are grateful to our city and our police for creating this opportunity to recognize and reward them,” said school Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams.

Seven winners were chosen to receive Samsung tablets and all the students, including two additional nominees, received certificates, gift cards and tee-shirts.

Congratulations to:

  • Ny’Eria Alexander (91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High School) - Excellent remote learning attendance and incredibly supportive older sister and cousin.
  • Olivia Jackson (Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School) - Demonstrated excellent academic improvement and makes positive changes and choices.
  • Kymel Dorsey (Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School) - Maintains a positive attitude and strong desire to learn all while undergoing chemoterhapy and radiation treatments.
  • Logan Lieman (91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High School) - Extensive volunteer work in the community, especially during the pandemic, and goes above and beyond in everything she does.
  • Nih’asia Acevdeo-Lombard (Edmund J. O’Neal Middle School of Excellence) - Active participant in remote learning while also taking care of younger sibling during the day.
  • Maliha Jackson (William S. Hackett Middle School) - Maintains a positive attitude and is a beloved member of the Hackett Community all while undergoing daily kidney disease treatment.
  • Troy Treece (Edmund J. O’Neal Middle School of Excellence) - Demonstrates clear leadership, participates in Student Embassador program, successful online learner and community artist.

  • John Riley (Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School)
