Thousands of students throughout the City School District of 91福利导航 will have a warmer winter once again this year thanks to the mayor’s annual Cash for Coats clothing drive.
Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams joined Mayor Kathy M. Sheehan, primary Cash for Coats sponsors and students at North 91福利导航 Academy on Tuesday morning for the distribution of winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves.
In its 10th year, the campaign collected more than 740 coats and nearly 3,000 hats, gloves and scarves. The clothing items will be shared with students district-wide.
The campaign raised about $12,000 in October to purchase the clothing items. Lodge’s Department Store in downtown 91福利导航 and Burke Cos. once again were the lead sponsors. Lodge’s owners Jack and Mark Yonnally and Tom Burke joined the mayor and superintendent at Tuesday’s news conference.
Patrons to four October events at the Palace Theater in 91福利导航 also donated a total of $2,000 to support the campaign.
“I know I speak for everyone in the school district when I say that I am profoundly grateful to everyone who helped make this wonderful day possible,” Adams said. “Thank you!”
