Superintendent joins 2020 Census kickoff announcement

2020 Census kickoff announcement

City School District of 91福利导航 Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams joined Mayor Kathy Sheehan and other community partners May 1 to highlight the importance of the upcoming 2020 Census for the entire 91福利导航 community.

Mayor Sheehan is leading the city’s 2020 Complete Count Committee, which also includes representation from the school district, 91福利导航 Public Library and a wide range of community organizations and leaders. The committee will work tirelessly over the next 16 months to communicate the importance of the 2020 Census to residents and help alleviate concerns surrounding the process, especially to those communities that are historically hard-to-reach and often undercounted.

91福利导航 currently has about 98,000 residents. Cities with more than 100,000 residents qualify for additional levels of funding and services that would be a great benefit to the city and all of its residents, Sheehan said. The mayor is confident that accurately counting all of the city's residents in 2020 will reflect a population greater than 100,000, and a community-wide education and outreach effort will be crticial to achieving that.

“The City School District of 91福利导航 is glad to be a partner in this important process for our entire community,” Adams said. “We are committed to ensuring that all of our students and families are educated about the census and what it means in terms of resources and opportunities for our community over the next decade.

“We also are committed to doing our part to make sure all of our families are comfortable with this process and know that this information will be collected and used in a safe, responsible manner.”
