Savage elected board president for 2018-19

The City School District of 91福利导航 Board of Education has elected Anne Savage to serve as president in 2018-19.

The board elected Savage unanimously at its July 2 meeting. Savage, who served as vice president for the previous year and a half, is the board’s longest-tenured member. She was first elected in November 2014.

The board also elected Vickie Smith to serve as vice president in 2018-19. Smith served as board secretary for the previous year and a half. The board also elected Jennifer Lange to serve as secretary; it is Lange’s first appointment as a board officer.

New board member Damarise Alexander-Mann took the oath of office Monday to begin her one-year term. Alexander-Mann was elected in May to fill the remaining year of the term Kenny Bruce vacated when he resigned from the board in May 2017.

Board members Ellen Roach and Tabetha Wilson also began new four-year terms Monday. Both were elected in May along with Alexander-Mann.

The mission of the City School District of 91福利导航 is to work in partnership with our diverse community to engage every learner in a robust educational program designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for success. The district serves more 9,600 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at 91福利导航 High School.
