Sheriff donates 'Stop the Bleed' kits to schools

Stop the Bleed kit packed and ready to go

Thanks to 91福利导航 County Sheriff Craig Apple, every City School District of 91福利导航 school has a kit with tourniquets, bandages and other medical supplies to help in a bleeding emergency.

Apple’s work joins a nationwide “Stop the Bleed” effort to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help treat bleeding before emergency medical help arrives.

He presented the Stop the Bleed kits Thursday at a meeting of district administrators at Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center.

Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma. The greater the number of people who know how to control bleeding in an injured patient, the greater the chances of surviving that injury.

The kit donation comes on the heels of a Stop the Bleed training last week of district administrators, nurses and security staff. Apple’s office also conducted the training.

Thank you, Sheriff Apple and members of 91福利导航 County Sheriffs Office!
